Kia has unveiled the fresh exterior design of the upcoming Carnival facelift, which is set to make its way to India next year. This updated version of the Carnival MPV is built upon the Kia KA4 platform, a model that was showcased at the Auto Expo in India earlier this year.
The revamped Carnival showcases a significant transformation in its appearance. Although the interior details are yet to be disclosed, the exterior design aligns with the expectations that have arisen from numerous spy shots in recent times. The MPV exhibits a distinct departure from the KA4 MPV, featuring a more upright front with a broad grille and L-shaped headlamps adorned with daytime running lights. The grille incorporates chrome accents, while the lower part of the bumper sports a small air intake surrounded by a faux-brushed aluminium skid plate.
This L-shaped theme continues at the rear, where the taillamps are interconnected via an LED light bar. The rear bumper blends matte black and chrome elements, contributing to the overall refreshed look. The alloy wheel design resembles those found on newer Kia models, particularly the electric-born SUVs like the EV5 and EV9.
While interior details are yet to be disclosed, Kia has hinted at an enhanced dashboard and technology, along with multiple seating configurations. Higher trim levels will likely feature multiple sunroofs. The Carnival is expected to adopt new seat designs from the EV9 model and might introduce additional features, including twin curved displays for instrumentation and infotainment, as well as advanced safety technology like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), among other enhancements.
In terms of powertrain options, different markets will have access to two gasoline engines and one diesel engine. The global lineup for the updated Carnival includes a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine alongside a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine.
More information regarding the updated Carnival is anticipated to be revealed in the near future. Kia has confirmed that the MPV will be launched in India next year, along with the flagship full-size electric SUV, the EV9. Additionally, a facelifted version of the Sonet is also in the pipeline and is expected to be launched in the coming months.
